What You Need
• Flexible steel tape (1/8” increments)
• Cable or string (for main beam)
• Pencil + score sheet
• Flat surface
• Wait at least 60 days after harvest (for official score)
Step-by-Step Scoring (Typical Frame)
1. Inside Spread
• Measure widest inside distance between main beams
• Held perpendicular to skull
• Counts once only
• Cannot exceed longest main beam
2. Main Beam Length (x2)
Measure each beam from:
• Burr (base) → tip of beam
Follow the center of the curve
Tip: Use a cable, then measure cable length
3. Tine Lengths (G1, G2, G3, etc.)
Measure each point that is:
•At least 1 inch long
•Longer than it is wide at 1” from tip
How: Measure from top of beam to tip of tine
Typical points:
• G1 = brow tine
• G2 = first main tine
• G3, G4, etc.
4. Circumference (Mass) Measurements (H1–H4)
Take 4 measurements per side:
• H1: Smallest between burr & G1
• H2: Between G1 & G2
• H3: Between G2 & G3
• H4: Between G3 & G4
If no G4, place H4 halfway between G3 and beam tip
5. Abnormal Points
• Typical score → abnormal points are deducted
• Non-typical score → abnormal points are added
